About Sonja Needs

Sonja Needs is a world-renowned dog trainer and scent detection expert with over 25 years of experience in obedience, tracking, and detection work. She is a lecturer at the University of Melbourne and the lead researcher for the Detection Dog Projects, focusing on canine olfactory capabilities and training methods.

Her work spans:

• Detection of agricultural pests and diseases (e.g., Phylloxera, Eutypa fungus, Potato Cyst Nematodes)
• Conservation and laboratory scent detection
